All steam inlet and exhaust controls are inclined inwards so that they can be reached from under the engine room skylight.

Anton Crystal 3.1cc Engine

 

This steam unit has been developed for our kit of the customs cruiser ‘Vigilant’.

The boiler is of all copper construction and hard soldered. It is a return tube boiler with cross tubes and a super heater coil. It is fitted with a steam stop valve, pressure gauge, water gauge, boiler blowdown valve, safety valve and cap, a ceramic burner and gas attenuator valve. The boiler is insulated and has a stove enamelled metal wrapper.

The refillable gas cylinder is adjustable in height so that the on/off valve comes through the bridge deck and is accessible without having to remove any of the structure.

The engine is an Anton ‘Crystal’ 3.1c.c. twin cylinder, double acting unit with Stephenson’s reversing links and is provided with a displacement lubricator and throttle. Both the throttle and the reversing lever can be linked to RC servos. The engine exhausts into a large oil trap tank and then to the funnel.

The oil trap tank and displacement lubricator have extended caps. With the steam stop valve, they are inclined inwards so that they can be reached by removing the engine room skylight. The pressure gauge is also visible under the skylight.

The complete unit is mounted on a stainless steel tray, which is adjustable for height and level. All the pipework is copper which is pre-formed and all connections made. The boiler is hydraulically tested and the whole unit is steam tested.

We can supply this unit without engine if you already have an Anton ‘Crystal’ engine, or if you have one of the PB2 or PB3 engines which we used to produce. We will make all the necessary connections for these engines.

We do not make this unit to suit any other makes of engine, nor can we vary the design or layout to fit any other boats.
